In the first tie of the tournament, Occitania HC gave the surprise by eliminating Hockey Ghosts with a resounding 3-0. In principle, what was expected to be fairly even matches, ended in three matches, putting Occitania HC currently as one of the favorites to win the tournament. Different was the derby between Epinal HC and Epinal HC II. The first team of the regular phase managed to defeat their second team 3-1 in the playoffs. Of course, Epinal HC II has left a very good feeling and we believe that they have a lot of future ahead of them in a team clearly in an upward progression. We are sure that we will see it in future tournaments.
On the other hand, we will not have any Pirates team in the semifinals. Pirates Origins narrowly missed the semi-finals. In the most even playoff match in the quarterfinals, Old Slasherhands (former Hannover Indians II) won the tie 3-2 being the last match resolved in OT. Two teams that have deserved to be in the semifinals and that have managed to make an excellent tournament and that has made this tournament even more interesting. Much appreciated.
Pirates Academy also failed to beat the Granada Grizzlies. With a final 3 to 1, the final results of the two teams do not exactly reflect the equality that has been experienced in these playoffs. Pirates Academy, it is another team that has made great progress in this tournament and it will be reflected in the future.
